Year & Era
2006 — Modern Era
Card Type
Insert Set / Promotional Cross-Over Card
Grade
Raw — appears Very Good to Excellent (VG-EX 4 to 5)
Rarity
Common insert card from retail/hobby packs, high print run relative to modern limited parallels
Overall Assessment
A nostalgic and fun cross-over card celebrating the Madden 07 era, though hampered significantly by a severe top-heavy miscut and moderate edge/corner wear
Condition Grade
Raw — appears Very Good to Excellent (VG-EX 4 to 5)
Centering Assessment
Front: Heavily skewed top-heavy with virtually no top border, Back: Not visible
Surface Condition
Fair to Good, showing minor surface scuffs and possible wear from handling without protection
Corner Condition
Top corners show noticeable rounding, chipping, and wear; bottom corners appear slightly softer due to age and handling
Edge Condition
Noticeable chipping along the top edge and right border, with minor whitening along the cuts
Print Quality
Standard Topps card stock with video game render imagery, suffers primarily from severe miscut centering on the vertical axis
Estimated Value
Raw: $0.99 - $3.00, Graded: Not economically viable to grade due to condition and low market demand
Comparison to Known Examples
Significantly below average centering compared to factory-fresh examples due to severe vertical miscut error
Authentication Tips
Look for authentic Topps card stock thickness, crisp font rendering for the Madden logo, and proper back text layout if available
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading as the cost of grading exceeds the total market value of the card, especially given the severe top miscut
Red Flags
No signs of counterfeiting or alteration; the primary issue is manufacturing error in centering combined with standard raw wear
Provenance Notes
Originally distributed inside 2006 Topps football packs as part of the cross-promotional Madden NFL 07 insert set
Historical Context
Reflects the peak era of the Madden NFL video game franchise dominance in the mid-2000s and Larry Johnson's heavy workload peak seasons with the Chiefs
Market Trends
Stable to flat market trend; low-tier modern inserts of retired running backs generally hold nominal value
Investment Potential
Low investment potential; best suited for team collectors or nostalgia-driven set builders rather than investors
